Adult Swim has revived Aqua Teen Hunger Force for season 12, with original creators Dave Willis and Matt Majellaro returning.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force, season 12

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is back, baby! Adult Swim announced today that they have ordered season 12 of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, nearly eight years after is was cancelled.

Original creators Dave Willis and Matt Majellaro will be back to steer the ship for Aqua Teen Hunger Force season 12, which will consist of five episodes. Willis, Dana Snyder, and Carey Means will continue voicing the main characters. “We are thrilled to be making more Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes for a new generation of fans, building upon the most impressive collection of IP ever assembled,” Willis and Maiellaro said in a joint statement. “Success is optimal and leads to quality.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force debuted in 2000 and followed the “surreal adventures and antics of three anthropomorphic fast food items: Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad, who live together as roommates and frequently interact with their human next-door neighbor, Carl Brutananadilewski.” After eleven seasons, Adult Swim cancelled the series, but it returned with a new direct-to-video movie, Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm just last year, which helped set the stage for its return. The movie will be available to stream on HBO Max on February 8th, before launching on Adult Swim at midnight on March 12th. “Congratulations! You waited just long enough for Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm to be free on the service your parents pay for,” Willis and Majellaro said. “I can’t wait for you to discover the project everyone has been talking about, and by everyone, I mean our personal Twitter accounts. There is too much stuff to watch already. Breathe, and focus exclusively on Aqua Teen. Delete everything else.

Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasmfeatures everyone’s favorite Aqua Teens: the brainy Frylock, the mouthy Master Shake, the loveable Meatwad, and everyone’s favorite perverted neighbor, Carl. They split up then get back together to fight everyone’s favorite corporate overlord, Amazin, led by everyone’s favorite tech mogul, Neil (voiced by everyone’s favorite Peter Serafinowicz) and his trusty scientist sidekick, Elmer (Golden Globe winner Paul Walter Hauser, who is everyone’s favorite).Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a show that just completely flew under my radar, so I couldn’t tell you a single thing about it, but you don’t last that long without a legion of fans, who are likely pumped to see the series return for season 12.
