More than a month after Better Call Saul concluded its six-season run, award-winning creator Vince Gilligan has already found his next major TV project. This project will reunite him with Emmy nominee Rhea Seehorn, who’s currently attached for the leading role. Deadline brings word that Apple TV+ has officially given a two-season straight-to-series order to Gilligan’s untitled series, which is being described as a “blended, grounded genre drama.”

“After fifteen years, I figured it was time to take a break from writing antiheroes … and who’s more heroic than the brilliant Rhea Seehorn? It’s long past time she had her own show, and I feel lucky to get to work on it with her,” Gilligan said in a statement. “And what nice symmetry to be reunited with Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht, and Chris Parnell! Jamie and Zack were the first two people to say yes to Breaking Bad all those years ago. They’ve built a great team at Apple, and my wonderful, long-time partners at Sony Pictures Television and I are excited to be in business with them.”

According to the outlet’s sources, multiple networks and streamers competed for Gilligan’s coveted project, which is reportedly going to cost around $13.5M-$15M per episode. However, Apple TV+ was the one that prevailed due to their “great enthusiasm” for the series from the very start. Further details about the project’s plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but it is reportedly being likened to The Twilight Zone.

The untitled drama will be executive produced by Gilligan, who will also be serving as the showrunner. Executive producers are Jeff Frost and Diane Mercer, with Jenn Carroll also set as a producer. It is a production by Sony Pictures Television and High Bridge Productions.
