While some have messed with unofficial VR mods in Alien: Isolation, there hasn’t been an official Aliens VR game. Survios is changing that with its newly announced Aliens video game. It doesn’t have a title or trailer — only the key art at the top of the article — but it is coming to VR platforms in addition to consoles and PC, none of which were explicitly spelled out.

This untitled Aliens game will be a single-player action horror title. There’s not much else to go on, but more details will be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con on July 21 during the “Alien: Expanding a Dark and Frightening Universe” panel. Chief Product Officer TQ Jefferson spoke briefly about the game along with Survios’ overall goal and how this Aliens game fits into that.

“When I joined Survios in 2020, it was to build bigger, more ambitious games, using the best entertainment franchises across console, PC, and VR platforms,” said Jefferson. “Aliens is a distinct and terrifying world that fans love to be entrenched in, and it is perfect for Survios’ proven expertise in creating immersive gaming
experiences.”

Disney, Pixar, and 20th Century Games Vice President Luigi Priore also talked about how the Aliens universe is vast and ripe for opportunities to create original video games.

“The vast universe of Alien is full of untold stories, and opportunities to create gripping original games,” said Priore. “We’re thrilled to work with a team like Survios who shares our passion for Alien, and for immersing fans into new worlds and experiences.”

The platform list very strongly implies that it is a traditional “flat” video game that can also be played in virtual reality, possibly like Resident Evil 7. Survios is mostly known for VR titles, as its first seven games were only for VR. However, its last project, Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions, was a “flat” game, showing that the team wasn’t locked to making virtual reality titles.

And as that title signals, Survios has also worked with known properties before. It has developed two Creed games in addition to The Walking Dead Onslaught, which is obviously based in the popular zombie franchise.

Its Aliens game is also just one in production, as Tindalos Interactive announced Aliens: Dark Descent, a top-down action strategy game, during Summer Game Fest. Aliens: Fireteam Elite did release in 2021, but it just recently got a big patch that added cross-play and is set to get another expansion in August.
