Creator Mike Mignola took to Instagram to confirm that production on Millennium Media’s newest Hellboy reboot The Crooked Man has finally been completed.

In his post, Mignola congratulated the cast and crew while also praising co-writer Chris Golden for staying true to the “heart and soul” of the source material, which he described as one of his favorite Hellboy stories. The project has not yet been given an official release date, but it will serve as the fourth live-action adaptation of the popular anti-hero following the 2019 film Hellboy which featured David Harbour as the titular character.

What to Expect in the Hellboy Reboot?

The Crooked Man is directed by Brian Taylor (Crank) from a screenplay written by Hellboy comic book creator Mike Mignola and Chris Golden. The reboot stars Jack Kesy, Jefferson White, and Adeline Rudolph. The film is based on the Eisner Award-winning comic book of the same name which debuted in July 2008 to correspond with the cinema release of Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

“Stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia, Hellboy, and a rookie BPRD agent discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man,” reads the film’s synopsis.

The film hails from Millennium Media, Dark Horse Entertainment, A Nu Boyana Production, and Campbell Grobman Film. It is produced by Mike Richardson, Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger, Les Weldon, Rob Van Norden, Sam Schulte, and Yariv Lerner. Executive producers are Mike Mignola, Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Tanner Mobley, Lati Grobman, Christa Campbell, Michael Muellner, and Julia Muentefering.
