It’s the most wonderful time of the year.  Fall has come and so has the official spooky season, at least until October 31st.  But for some of us Spooky Season never stops, even with the ever sooner it seems encroaching of Christmas decorations into our beloved Jack O’Lanterns and bats.

This gift guide is a bridge for both those that love all things grisly and ghoulish when it comes to their entertainment and décor and also a handy map for those trying to find something to place under the tree from themselves or to help out Sandy Claws.

This guide will be broken down into sections from least expensive to the spendy range, touching on collectibles, movies, books and more.  So let’s cut deep into what I think your favorite horror fan might love finding in their bloody stockings this holiday season.

HANDMADE BY ROBOTS – BUFFALO BILL & PRECIOUS

It’s cute and twisted in all the right ways.  It’s fitting that the man who loved stitching things together so much would be recreated in a toy that looks stitched together but isn’t.  Handmade By Robots creates figures that are painted and molded to look like they are knitted by hand but are actually plastic.  And this may be the best one they’ve ever done.  Buffalo Bill and his beloved Precious are together forever in this Silence of the Lambs inspired piece that has no right to be both this creepy and cute. MEGO – PLAGUE OF THE ZOMBIES FIGURE

What a world we live in when Plague of the Zombies gets an action figure based on one of its iconic creatures.  Hammer’s lesser known yet one of the most terrifying films the studio released, Plague of the Zombies is slowly getting the recognition it deserves.  Mego Corporation has been creating some fantastic entries in their doll/figure line based off Hammer Studios and this entry is one of my favorites. EDDIE MUNSON BODY AND ROOM SPRAY

If you haven’t heard the name Eddie Munson at least once in the last few months or seen a Hellfire Club t-shirt you’ve been under a rock.  Eddie threw every other character out of his way (except maybe Dustin) to steal the heart of every Stranger Things fan.  But sadly, there wasn’t a lot of merch (other than that t-shirt) that was released of our fave metal head.  Enter the fan art market and the Tracey Gurney Etsy store where you can make your house and yourself smell like Eddie Munson.  Tracey’s Body & Room spray inspired by Eddie smells exactly as advertised.  Fresh Dirt, Cloves with a bit of leather.  It’s actually amazing and will thrill that Eddie fan in your life.  As a bonus Tracey’s shop has other genre inspired goodies as well (with a special love for The Walking Dead and Supernatural.) Buy it here!

FRIGHT RAGS SLEEP PANTS

Fright Rags takes a lot of my money.  I’m not going to lie.  They make some amazing clothes and accessories for horror fans with some great art on them.  But one of my favorite things they produce are their sleep pants.  They look great, are super comfortable, and fit just right so I’m not tripping on the legs.  They also tend to sell out of some of the more interesting styles so if you see something you think would be perfect, grab it.  The Joe Bob Briggs/The Last Drive-In style is a personal fave, but I also really love The Twilight Zone print.  There’s even one for the John Carpenter fan in your life.  Christmas usually means socks or pajamas for someone, might as well make them stand out. Buy them here!

FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN 4K 3D

Ah, nothing things I love you and happy holidays more than a twisted romp with Udo Kier.  Flesh For Frankenstein is legendary for its levels of WTF and gore.  Vinegar Syndrome has given we the fans of such things a true gift with this release.  Not only does it have that fantastic slipcover, but it also has multiple options for enjoying the film in 3D (including those who still have a 3D television.)  Don’t worry if you don’t have a 3D TV.  The set comes with the old school red and blue glasses so you can watch it just as god intended.  It’s a beautiful scan and has a ton of extras including interviews with Udo Kier and Joe Dallesandro.  Just maybe wait a bit after dinner with the family to pop this one into the player.  Buy it here!

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURLES/UNIVERSAL MONSTERS

Back in the old days, the TMNT toy line would do things no other toy line really did.  One year it did the Universal Monsters which was random and fantastic.  Flash forward to NECA’s modern line of Turtles toys and they’ve upped the ante with this new crossover with the classic monsters.  These toys are still the Turtles but there’s a realistic look and creep factor that makes them extra awesome.  The Hunchback Leo’s shell opens to store accessories and April O’Neil is based off the Judith Hoag version of the character and makes a great Bride of Frankenstein.  You probably don’t want the little ones getting their claws on these. ULTIMATE RJ MACREADY

No film in the horror genre has gone through such a journey as John Carpenter’s The Thing.  Considered a flop on release, the film has become the number one horror movie on many top 10 lists and is now a classic in the industry.  One of the reasons for that is the character created by Kurt Russell, RJ Macready who has grown in popularity along with the film.  Macready is smart and a fighter, taking on some of the most terrifying monsters of the last 40 years.  And he does it all while wearing a pretty nifty hat.  I personally love the fact this figure comes with a bottle of booze because if you were dealing with what Macready had to, you’d want to get drunk too. GIANT 3D HALLOWEEN WALL MASK

RetroAGoGo makes some amazing art and collectibles for the discerning monster lover.  But one of the best things they’ve ever brought to undead life are the giant Halloween masks for your wall that measure around 2 feet tall.  Styled in the old school, classic plastic mask style, these pieces of art are beautiful, creepy, and in the case of Krampus (who above all others represents the bridge of Halloween and Christmas) takes on a glow in black light thanks to the Fluorescent Freaks treatment.  Buy it here!

CHILD’S PLAY 1-3, FIGURE, POSTERS, AND SLIPCOVERS SET

Scream Factory/Shout Factory know what they are doing when it comes to great horror releases and putting together collectibles with their movies.  This mega Child’s Play set is proof of that.  The first three Child’s Play films are here in 4K Ultra HD with a ton of extras.  There are two new artwork slip cases for Child’s Play 2 and 3, 5 posters, and my favorite bit the charred and melted Chucky figure made by NECA.  Again, NECA knows what they are doing.  For the price this is really a steal and if you have an 80s horror fan on your list this is absolutely the perfect gift.  Buy it here!

DELUXE BELA LUGOSI 1/6 FIGURE

Sideshow Toys has been offering collectors the high end, most gorgeous figures and art pieces around for a very long time.  And for the cream de la cream of this list I’m choosing one of the most recent editions they’ve done and one of the best.  The Bela Lugosi estate is very protective of the legends likeness so when they approve something it’s got to be good.  And with this piece from Infinite Statue, Lugosi looks like he’s come back to life in his prime as the Lord of The Undead, Count Dracula.

As you can see from the pictures, the deluxe edition comes with a coffin.  But it’s not just any sort of coffin.  This thing is completely solid, with the interior not actually cloth but molded as part of the entire piece and made to fit the figure perfectly.  The coffin weighs around 5 pounds by itself.  The figure comes two heads (my favorite is the grinning one), 10 posable hands, magnetic shoes so you can display him on a magnetic stand (with Lugosi’s autograph on it) and a candle with the neat feature of fake smoke.  Yes, it’s spendy but it is worth it.  It’s one of the most detailed (some of the hands have sharp nails, others don’t depending on how angry you want The Count.)  As a die-hard Monster Kid, this figure is a dream and should be at the top of everyone’s list.  Long live The Count.
