The next film from directing duo Josh and Benny Safdie, which is set to star Adam Sandler once again, has a new partner. Deadline is reporting that Netflix has boarded the project.

Following the success of 2019’s Uncut Gems, Adam Sandler and the Safdie brothers spoke openly about working together again. Now, the trio will have that chance, as it’s reported that the film will begin shooting in the second quarter of 2023 — likely making it the next big film for Sandler.

Not too much is known about the movie, but Deadline did note that “it is likely set in the world of high-end card collecting,” which could make for another high-stakes, chaotic film similar to Uncut Gems.

The trio first got together for 2019’s Uncut Gems, a film that received critical acclaim partly due to Sandler’s performance. Uncut Gems earned Sandler a great deal of praise for his intense and more dramatic performance, with the actor winning the Film Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.

Since its release, Sandler has been open about working with the Safdie brothers again. During the press run for Hustle, Sandler said that he will be starring in the upcoming film, saying earlier this year, “Their work ethic is bananas. They’re always working, always writing, always thinking. I don’t know what I can tell you, but it’s gonna be very exciting. It’s different. But I don’t want them to ever say, ‘What the hell did you tell him that for?’ So I’ll just let them talk [about it].”
