The following post contains SPOILERS for Thor: Love and Thunder. If you don’t want to know any spoilers for this movie don’t go any further. This article is basically Sorr the Spoiler Butcher. FYI.

By the increasingly complex standards of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Love and Thunder tells a relatively straightforward story. A madman wants to murder every god in the universe, and Thor and another Thor he used to date and a couple more allies band together to stop the villain from achieving his task. There’s no time travel, there’s no alternate universes, there’s no evil versions of the heroes. Simple, right?

Well, not exactly. Even while Love and Thunder’s plot is fairly simple, there are a few elements that don’t quite add up. Some are as minor as characters’ costumes. Others are as significant as the choices that go into the movie’s big climactic showdown between good and evil. All of them are things I had on my mind as I watched the movie — and based on conversations I’ve had with other fans and critics, they were on a lot of your minds as well.

So here are some of the lingering plot holes and unanswered questions left by Thor: Love and Thunder. In some cases, I think I found some pretty good ways to explain the confusing elements. (They may not be canonical, but they’re at least explanations.) In other cases, well, we’ll just have to hope the inevitable Thor 5 addresses those.
