The Lord of the Rings: Gollum received another gameplay trailer during the Nacon Connect event, showcasing some of the places players will be crawling and sneaking through en route to retrieving their Precious when the game releases on September 1, 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

The new trailer doesn’t give too much away in terms of the story, but does showcase more of the in-game world than was previously shown off. It showcased a collection of forests and dark dungeons that Gollum must slink through in addition to the collection of grim and dingy caves.
The new footage also gives fans a good look at some iconic characters from The Lord of the Rings, including Ring Wraiths, various Orcs, and the infamous wizard Gandalf the Grey.
Unlike past games based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary books, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum leans fully into the world of stealth, and takes place during the early sections of The Fellowship of the Ring. Players control Gollum as he tries to retrieve the One Ring back, and will also feature a mechanic that allows players to side with either the Gollum or Sméagol persona, which will affect how certain interactions in the game play out.

This isn’t the only The Lord of the Rings video game in the works. Electronic Arts announced earlier this year that it is developing and publishing a free-to-play mobile role-playing game based on the franchise. North Beach Games also recently announced its co-op crafting game called The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
