Grant Gustin, Ezra Miller, The Flash

It’s safe to say that Ezra Miller has had some troubles recently. A recent report from Rolling Stone claims that Warner Bros. and DC executives recently held an emergency meeting to discuss Ezra Miller’s future with the studio. Following the actor’s recent arrest for disorderly conduct and harassment, the studio has apparently decided to hit pause on any projects involving Miller, and that includes any appearances in the DCEU. As this is just the latest in several controversies to involve Ezra Miller over the years, some fans have called on the studio to replace them with Grant Gustin, who has played the speedster on The CW for eight years.

Grant Gustin and Ezra Miller have actually shared the screen as their respective Barry Allen’s as Miller made a cameo appearance in The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event in 2019. Miller shot The Flash back-to-back with Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in London in the fall of 2020 and spring of 2021.

Ezra Miller is clearly going through something and I hope they’re able to get the help they need. Rolling Stone‘s report claims that Miller had “frequent meltdowns” during production on The Flash last year. While the behaviour wasn’t violent, the insider described Miller as “losing it… Ezra would get a thought in [their] head and say ‘I don’t know what I’m doing.’

The CW renewed The Flash for a ninth season last month, but it’s rumoured that it might be the last season of the series. As it stands now, The Flash will hit theaters on June 23, 2023, and Miller will next be seen in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore on April 15th. While there’s been no talk of replacing Ezra Miller as The Flash, would Grant Gustin be a good choice to step in if it does come to that?
