Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for its upcoming film adaptation of Delia Owens’ best-selling novel Where the Crawdads Sing, starring Golden Globe nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones. The film is set to arrive in theaters this July.

The video, which you can check out below along with the key art, features a young woman who has been shunned by her community since she was a child. Things get even worse, when she gets involved in a murder case where she has been accused of killing her former lover. The trailer also features a snippet of Taylor Swift’s newest original song titled “Carolina.”

Where the Crawdads Sing stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) as Kya Clark, Taylor John Smith (Sharp Objects) as Tate Walker, Harris Dickinson (The King’s Man) as Chase Andrews, Michael Hyatt (Snowfall) as Mabel, Sterling Macer, Jr. (Double Down) as Jumpin’, and David Strathairn (Nomadland) as Tom Milton.

“From the best-selling novel comes a captivating mystery, the film tells the story of Kya, an abandoned girl who raised herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina,” reads the synopsis. “For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world; but when one of them is found dead, she is immediately cast by the community as the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what actually happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.”

Where the Crawdads Sing is directed by Olivia Newman from a screenplay adapted by Lucy Alibar. It is production by 3000 Pictures, with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter serving as producers through their Hello Sunshine banner.
