TV series inspired by 13 Ghosts is currently in the development phase, and we have the EXCLUSIVE look at a couple pitch slides!
A few days ago, Dread Central learned that Patrick Mediate of Primordial Pictures, The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead VFX supervisor Aaron McLane, and Ashley Robinson, a co-producer of Fear the Walking Dead, are teaming up with Dark Castle Entertainment to develop and pitch a TV series inspired by William Castle‘s 1960 classic 13 Ghosts and its 2001 remake. Now we’ve gotten an EXCLUSIVE look at a couple slides from the show’s comprehensive development deck, and you can check them out below!
The plan is that the 13 Ghosts series would consist of thirteen episodes. The team behind the project shared the following information: “Every culture in the world has its ghost stories, and this re-imagining of 13 Ghosts presents an international sampling of these supernatural tales. The ghost stories within each episode will have their own stylistic look and feel that will be explored and influenced by each individual director. This makes our ghost vignettes stand out stylistically as they set the theme for each episode.“
Here are the slides from the development deck, with comments from the team:
Slide 1: Cyrus’ Back Story
A parallel narrative within the series explores Cyrus’ character through every stage of his life and the life events that transpire over those stages that lead him to the discovery of the dark zodiac and eventually designing and building his version of the Basilius machine. We are given background into the impetus behind his use of the machine to open a portal to the afterlife. It’s an epic scope of a story spanning generations with love and loss along the way.
Slide 2: More on the Ghosts
While we can’t go deeper into the ghosts backstories themselves (just yet) this slide lets us in on some of the potential international and cultural ghosts stories we plan to tell as well as showcases that the ghosts narratives intersect with the family narratives throughout the series in many ways.
It should be noted that, while Mediate, McLane, and Robinson have the support of Dark Castle as they try to get the 13 Ghosts TV series going, they have not yet secured a greenlight from the rights holders at Sony Pictures Television. They need to be able to show that fans have interest in the idea so they can get that greenlight – so if you’re enthusiastic about the idea of a 13 Ghosts TV series, show your support for the project. Your enthusiasm could help it get made!
