Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will be happy to hear there’s an unexpected return in the latest Secret Invasion episode, as O-T Fagbenle had a cameo. Considering the plethora of MCU characters, some fans might wonder who Rick Mason is and where they have seen him. Here’s what you need to know, and beware of spoilers.
Is Rick Mason in Secret Invasion episode 5?
Rick Mason makes his MCU return in Secret Invasion episode 5.
The beloved MCU character helped a grumpy Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) during his mission to retrieve The Harvest. To fly to Finland and find the hidden vial with the Avengers’ DNA, Fury needed fake documents, which were provided to him by Rick. There was an Interpol Red Notice for the former head of the S.H.I.E.L.D., meaning Fury was one of the most-wanted men on Earth. Rick ironically congratulated his former boss for his new status, joking Fury should be mothballed like the Helicarrier.
Who’s Rick Mason?
Rick Mason is a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.
Secret Invasion episode 5 didn’t mention Rick’s job (nor his name, to say it all), but it’s pretty clear he and Fury have some history. They both recall the good old days on the Helicarrier.
When did Rick Mason make his MCU debut?
Rick Mason made his first MCU appearance in 2021’s Black Widow.
In the movie, Rick turned out to be a pretty resourceful ally for Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson). His backstory is still shrouded in mystery, but he’s primarily working with the good guys.
