Bones and All, teaser

Audiences have been eagerly awaiting the next movie from Luca Guadagnino, an R-rated cannibal love story titled Bones and All which stars Timothée Chalamet (Dune) and Taylor Russell (Escape Room). That little snippet is more than enough to pique my interest, but Chalamet took to Twitter to release the first Bones and All teaser.

Based on the novel by Camille DeAngelis, Bones and All tells the story of the “first love between Maren, a young woman learning how to survive on the margins of society, and Lee, an intense and disenfranchised drifter.” Producers have described it as “a liberating road odyssey of two young people coming into their own, searching for identity and chasing beauty in a perilous world that cannot abide who they are.” In addition to Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell, the film also stars Michael Stuhlbarg, André Holland, Chloë Sevigny, David Gordon-Green, Jessica Harper, Jake Horowitz, and Mark Rylance. David Kajganich penned the screenplay after working with Luca Guadagnino on A Bigger Splash and Suspiria.

In a statement about Bones and All, Luca Guadagnino said, “There is something about the disenfranchised, about people living on the margins of society, that I am drawn toward and touched by. I want to see where the possibilities lie for them, enmeshed within the impossibility they face. The movie is for me a meditation on who I am and how I can overcome what I feel, especially if it is something I cannot control in myself. And lastly, and most importantly, when will I be able to find myself in the gaze of the other?

Bones and All will debut at the Venice Film Festival (which runs between August 31 and September 10th) before hitting theaters on November 23rd. What did you think of the Bones and All teaser trailer?
