Deadline has reported that Ayo Edebiri, who broke out in a significant way last year starring alongside Jeremy Allen White in FX’s The Bear, has joined the cast of Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie in a “new secret role.

Thunderbolts should be a big boost for Ayo Edebiri, who has won plenty of praise for her work on The Bear. The FX series stars Jeremy Allen White as a young chef from the world of fine dining who returns to run his family’s restaurant after the suicide of his older brother, who left behind debts, a rundown kitchen, and an unruly staff. Edebiri plays Sydney Adamu, a talented but inexperienced chef who joins the restaurant as its new sous chef. The series has been renewed for a second season, which is expected to premiere early this summer with ten new episodes. Our own Alex Maidy gave it a perfect 10/10 in his review, saying that it “accomplishes more character-building and storytelling than some shows achieve after multiple years on the air.” Maidy added that while The Beardoesn’t feature a mystery to solve, action sequences, or special effects, [it’s] just a damn good show and one that everyone can appreciate.” You can check out the rest of Maidy’s review right here.

The main cast of the Thunderbolts movie was announced at D23. The film will see David Harbour returning as Red Guardian, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, Hannah John Kamen as Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Harrison Ford will also appear as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, with the actor taking over the role played by the late William Hurt. The actor’s first appearance as Ross will actually occur in Captain America: New World Order, which is set to be released several months before Thunderbolts.

The Thunderbolts movie is set to be directed by Jake Schreier (Robot & Frank), with Eric Pearson (Black Widow) penning the script. Thunderbolts will hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
