GameStop movie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen

Black Bear Pictures announced today that Seth Rogen (The Fabelmans), Paul Dano (The Batman), Sebastian Stan (Pam & Tommy), and Pete Davidson (Bupkis) have joined the cast of Dumb Money, the GameStop movie directed by Craig Gillespie.

Based on Ben Mezrich’s The Antisocial Network and scripted by Rebecca Angelo & Lauren Schuker Blum, Dumb Money will tell “the story of fortunes won and lost overnight in the David-vs.-Goliath GameStop short squeeze that may have ended up changing Wall Street forever.” The GameStop movie will offer a “gripping portrayal of how a loosely affiliated group of private investors and internet trolls on a subreddit called WallStreetBets took down one of the biggest hedge funds on Wall Street, firing the first shot in a revolution that threatened to upend the establishment.” Production will begin this October, with Black Bear International handling the foreign distribution rights and launch sales at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.

In a statement, Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman said: “Black Bear has diamond hands for Dumb Money. Lauren & Rebecca have masterfully adapted Ben Mezrich’s exceptional book, detailing one of the greatest underdog stories of our time. Craig Gillespie is a tremendous leader with exceptional vision, and has assembled a tremendous ensemble. We’re honored to partner with him, Aaron Ryder, and this terrific team in front and behind the camera to bring Dumb Money to audiences everywhere.” Paul Dano was most recently seen starring alongside Robert Pattinson in The Batman and will next be seen in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans, which just so happened to be Seth Rogen’s next project as well. The Fabelmans will debut at TIFF on September 10th and will see a limited theatrical release on November 11th before expanding wide on November 23rd. Sebastian Stan is currently filming A Different Man for A24, and Pete Davidson is in the midst of production on Bupkis, his new comedy series for Peacock
