Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is finally soaring into theaters this weekend. The Autobots need to save Earth from a bigger and more vicious threat than ever before in Unicron and his henchmen (or hench bots, if you prefer). How does Transformers 7 end? What’s the possible big G.I. Joe crossover everyone talks about after watching Rise of the Beasts? Here’s what you need to know, and beware of the spoilers.
Is the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ending teasing a G.I. Joe crossover?
Rise of the Beasts ends by teasing an upcoming Transformers x G.I. Joe crossover.
After momentarily saving Earth from the menace of Scourge and Unicron by joining forces with the Autobots and the Maximals in Peru, Noah Diaz (Anthony Ramos) returns to his Brooklyn life and attends an interview for a security job. To his surprise, the interviewer (Michael Kelly) knows everything in Noah’s life since his encounter with Mirage. The character’s name isn’t directly mentioned in the movie, but some outlets name him Agent Burke. After informing Noah that there is an ongoing war — he doesn’t go into details, but he was likely referring to everyone’s efforts to prevent Unicron from destroying Earth — Agent Burke invites Noah to join a secret government organization he works for. The business card he leaves to Noah reads G.I. Joe.
Both Transformers and G.I. Joe are Hasbro toys that have made their way to the big screen thanks to their popularity. Paramount Pictures have distributed the live-action adaptations of Transformers and G.I. Joe, although there have never been any hints for a potential live-action crossover until the Rise of the Beasts ending. Plus, the latest G.I. Joe adaptation, Snake Eyes, bombed at the box office, and it seemed producers might want to freeze the franchise for a while.
The right moment for a Transformers x G.I. Joe crossover might have come. Characters from the two IPs have already teamed up in the comic book realms, where there have been multiple Transformers crossovers with G.I. Joe published by Marvel Comics and IDW Publishing, among others.
