A teaser trailer has been released for Netflix’s Resident Evil and this marks the first live-action series for the long-running horror franchise that began as a video game and also had a long life on the big screen. Later today, we’ll be posting a Q&A we did with the show runner Andrew Dabb, plus our reaction to the first episode.

Per the official logline, “Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.” The series stars Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti, and Turlough Convery.

Netflix says that the new series “brings the best of the Resident Evil Universe DNA forward – bad ass heroines, insane creatures (some new/some familiar), a battle for survival, questions about what it means to be family; Umbrella Corporation’s greed and corruption; and of course, a deep mystery to unravel.”

Will YOU be watching the new series? Resident Evil will debut globally on Netflix on July 14, 2022.
