MultiVersus has emerged from its closed beta with some positive buzz, which is great news for WB Games and anyone looking for an alternative to Super Smash Bros. One of the best parts of that game is how deep Nintendo’s roster of mascots goes, and a recent leak suggests that Warner Bros. is ready to compete in that arena as well. According to the same leaker who revealed the game ahead of schedule, everyone from Mortal Kombat‘s Scorpion to the titular star of Apple TV’s Ted Lasso will be joining the fray in this free-to-play fighting game.

The leaker (who goes by the appropriate moniker “u/hugeleakeractually” on Reddit) splits the upcoming characters into two piles. The first are fighters who are mostly finished and will join the game sooner rather than later. This includes some obvious picks like Scooby-Doo and two more DC heroes, but it also goes for unique offerings like Lebron James warping in from Space Jam: A New Legacy. The full list of these characters is reproduced below:
- Joker – DC
- Raven – DC
- Gizmo – Gremlins
- Marvin the Martian – Looney Tunes
- Lebron James – NBA
- Rick – Rick and Morty
- Morty – Rick and Morty
- Scooby-Doo – Scooby-Doo
- Daenerys – Game of Thrones
- The Hound – Game of Thrones
- Wicked Witch – The Wizard of Oz
- Godzilla – Godzilla
Following that, the leaker was also able to confirm more characters that were farther off but still planned for inclusion at this time. It’s great to see Yakko, Wakko, and Dot get some video game love following their Hulu revival, and the previously leaked Johnny Bravo is also a nostalgic favorite. This collection also includes the more wild picks of the whole leak, including Ted Lasso and Mortal Kombat‘s Scorpion.
- Johnny Bravo – Johnny Bravo
- Fred Flinstone – Flinstones
- Samurai Jack – Samurai Jack
- The Powerpuff Girls – Powerpuff Girls (all one fighter)
- The Animaniacs – The Animaniacs (also all one fighter as far as I’m aware)
- Duck Dodgers/Daffy – Looney Tunes
- Scorpion – Mortal Kombat
- Ben 10 – Ben 10
- Ted Lasso – Ted Lasso

The leaker also mentions that Mad Max and Harry Potter were initial additions that have not been worked on recently, possibly due to licensing issues. If those exclusions led to more out-of-the-box characters like Duck Dodgers and Fred Flintstone making the cut, it might just give Multiversus the unique soul that WB’s previous multiverse-focused media has lacked. Either way, it seems likely that the game will be one to watch for anyone who still can’t get enough franchise crossovers in 2022.
