Deadline has reported that Mark Wahlberg is set to star in The Family Plan, a new action-comedy in development from Apple Original Films and Skydance Media.
Set to be directed by Simon Cellan Jones (Arthur the King) and written by David Coggeshall (Orphan: First Kill), The Family Plan will tell the story of a “suburban dad who must take his family on the run when his past catches up to him.” In addition to starring in The Family Plan, Mark Wahlberg will also produce alongside Stephen Levinson, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger.
This won’t be Mark Wahlberg’s first collaboration with Simon Cellan Jones as the actor will also be starring in Arthur the King alongside Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). Based on the book Arthur: The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home, the film stars Mark Wahlberg as Lindnord, the “captain of a Swedish adventure racing team who met and befriended a wounded stray dog during a 400-mile race through the Ecuadoran jungle where they crossed rivers and battled illness and injury through some of the world’s toughest terrain.“
Mark Wahlberg will next be seen starring alongside Kevin Hart in Me Time from writer/director John Hamburg. The film stars Hart as a stay-at-home dad who finds himself with some “me time” for the first time in years while his wife and kids are away. He reconnects with his former best friend (Wahlberg) for a wild weekend that nearly upends his life. Me Time will debut on Netflix on August 26th.
