Bullet Train, Lady Gaga, Brad Pitt, David Leitch

It turns out that Lady Gaga was almost given a ticket to ride aboard David Leitch’s Bullet Train. Leitch recently confirmed – after it was rumored – that Lady Gaga was once in early talks to star alongside Brad Pitt in the upcoming action blockbuster. However, negotiations broke down thanks to Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. Damn you, scheduling conflicts! We almost had Lady Gaga in a balls-to-the-wall action flick. Universe, thy name is Robbery!

“It really all came down to her schedule with the Ridley [Scott] film,” Leitch explained to Entertainment Weekly in an interview. “There were short discussions and then, this isn’t going to work because she was preparing for the Ridley movie [House of] Gucci. They shot right before us and overlapped with us and it really didn’t work.”

When asked if Gaga would have played the part now occupied by Bullock, Leitch remained tight-lipped by saying, “I’m going to leave that a mystery.”

Based on the popular manga Maria Beetle by Kotaro Isaka, Bullet Train will follow several “assassins who find themselves on a fast-moving bullet train from Tokyo to Morioka with only a few stops in between. Strangely, they discover their missions are not unrelated to each other.” Brad Pitt (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) leads an ensemble cast that also includes Joey King (The Kissing Booth), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (The King’s Man), Brian Tyree Henry (Eternals), Andrew Koji (Warrior), Zazie Beetz (Joker), Masi Oka (Heroes), Michael Shannon (Knives Out), Logan Lerman (Hunters), Lady Gaga (A Star is Born), and Sandra Bullock (The Lost City of D).

In addition to the cast mentioned above, the film also stars Masi Oka, Michael Shannon, Logan Lerman, Hiroyuki Sanada, Karen Fukuhara, Bad Bunny, and Sandra Bullock. With a screenplay penned by Zak Olkewicz, Bullet Train pulls into theaters on July 29, 2022.
