James Wan’s Leatherface – WTF Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie

[ad_1]

Around fifteen years ago, the producers at Twisted Pictures – the company behind the Saw franchise – were planning to get involved with a very different “saw” horror series, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Writer Stephen Susco had a trilogy plotted out and the plan was that the first of these films would be directed by Saw director James Wan. In the new episode of our video series WTF Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie (formerly known as The Horror Movie That Almost Was), we looks into what might have been if Twisted Pictures, Stephen Susco, and James Wan had been able to make their Leatherface.

Directed by Tobe Hooper (who Wan met with when his Leatherface was in the works), the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre has the following synopsis:

When Sally (Marilyn Burns) hears that her grandfather’s grave may have been vandalized, she and her paraplegic brother, Franklin (Paul A. Partain), set out with their friends to investigate. After a detour to their family’s old farmhouse, they discover a group of crazed, murderous outcasts living next door. As the group is attacked one by one by the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen), who wears a mask of human skin, the survivors must do everything they can to escape.

The WTF Happened to This Unmade Horror Movie series focuses on

the various horror projects that could never seem to get things off the ground, be it for budgetary concerns, creative differences, or just an ever evolving Hollywood landscape. We dive into every aspect and see just how close these films had come to cameras rolling.

This episode was Written, Narrated, and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
