In a recent report on the overall state of DC within Warner Bros. Discovery, THR’s Borys Kit noted that Gunn has been looking to work on another DC project or two. Specifically, he mentioned that Gunn and producer Peter Safran have been in talks with Warner Bros. Discovery for a “mystery movie” and potentially even more.

It’s currently unknown exactly what that mystery project might be, but Gunn has a knack and history for looking to adapt the more obscure comic characters onto the big screen, so fans will likely be surprised no matter what it is. Meanwhile, Safran already has a working relationship as well as a producer on both Shazam! and Aquaman movies.

Gunn’s history in the world of comic book films is well-known, with the director having been behind the incredibly popular Guardians of the Galaxy franchise for Marvel Studios. His next projects are set in those worlds, including the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
