The new trailer for the film previews the intense plot, which sees a woman returning to the town where a ravenous and horrific creature — The Mean One — once went on a rampage. Judging by the trailer, however, it seems like she’ll be on the offensive now and will look to hunt down and defeat the monster once and for all.

Similarly to Winne the Pooh: Blood and HoneyThe Mean One reimagines a classic children’s story character as a fearsome slasher villain. The titular Mean One is played by Terrifier 2‘s David Howard Thornton.

“The Mean One is a hairy, green-skinned grump in a Santa suit, living on a mountain high above the town of Newville, despising the holiday season,” reads the film’s synopsis. “Young Cindy You-Know-Who, whose parents were butchered by The Mean One twenty Christmases earlier, is returning to town to seek closure … but is about to discover that this fiend with a heart two sizes too small is still quite eager to carve the roast beast.”
