Dave Bautista is in talks to star in the upcoming Netflix film Unleashed, according to a recent report from Deadline.

The film, which is set to be directed by Jeff Tomsic (Tag) and written by Jim and Brian Kehoe (Blockers) will focus on a police officer (Bautista) who has a canine partner die while on duty, leading him to pledge to no longer work with dogs. However, he is soon given another dog partner, Zeus, and must learn to overcome his past issues while building a relationship with his new companion.

It’s currently unclear when the film is set to release, although with Bautista still just in talks to star in the film, production likely won’t begin for some time.

Unleashed is set to be executive produced by Jim and Brian Kehoe, and marks another big project for the writing pair. They’ve also been working on 2022’s Double Fault with Rebel Wilson, as well as Luck Key — a remake of a Korean film of the same name — that will star Marlon Wayans. The duo is also behind the animated series Futha Mucka, which starred Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson.

For Bautista, his next role will come in the highly anticipated sequel to Knives Out, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. After that, he’ll have a busy 2023, as he’s set to appear in the M. Night Shyamalan film Knock at the Cabin, Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3, and Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated Dune: Part Two.
