Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon made its debut at The Game Awards, but the trailer was relatively vague. FromSoftware has now dropped a more substantial trailer that not only has gameplay, but also reveals when it’s coming out. The Armored Core VI: Fires of the Rubicon release date is August 25 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The trailer has plenty of fast mecha action with melee and ranged combat full of effects and special abilities. While frenetic, Producer Yasunori Ogura did an interview with IGN and was able to slow it down and to explain some of the intricacies that weren’t spelled out.

He stated that the game revolves around dynamic 3D combat that “can only be achieved with mechs” and the ability to heavily customize the player’s Armored Core. Players can also turn on a dime, dash around, and hold multiple weapons, which is why the game looks so fast. Moving around can change depending on what parts the player has installed. For example, having tank treads instead of legs means players can drift around.

Ogura also noted that FromSoftware had wanted to return to the series for some time and had been working on the game since 2018, but was just trying to squeeze it into its busy schedule. And despite it having a number in the title, he said that it was still a great starting point for players new to the franchise. FromSoftware has even taken steps to better onboard new pilots and has even included a training simulator. Ogura also touched on how hardcore players will be able to experiment with different weapons and create their own combos.
