Netflix has announced the release date for the next installment of the French mystery thriller series Lupin, starring Omar Sy as the titular heist master. Lupin Part 3 is scheduled to make its debut on October 5 — over two years after the first 10 episodes were released. The release date announcement was accompanied by the reveal of the first official Lupin Part 3 poster, giving fans a new look at Sy’s return to the city of love.
Lupin was created by George Kay. It stars César Award winner Omar Sy, Ludivine Sagnier, Clotilde Hesme, Nicole Garcia, Hervé Pierre, Soufiane Guerrab, Antoine Gouy, Fargass Assandé, Vincent Londez, and Shirine Boutella.
“A contemporary retelling of the classic French story about Arsène Lupin, a gentleman thief and master of disguise,” reads the synopsis. “As a teenager, Assane Diop’s life was turned upside down when his father died after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit. 25 years later, Assane will use ‘Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Burglar’ as his inspiration to avenge his father. His revenge involves a high stake museum heist where he must steal the necklace of Marie Antoinette at an auction.”
Omar Sy is best known for his acclaimed performance in the 2011 dramedy film The Intouchables, which won him the César Award for Best Actor, making him the first Black actor to receive the award. Following the success of the Lupin series, Sy signed a multi-year film deal with Netflix.
