Word that Neve Campbell isn’t returning for Scream 6 may not have been the only major news to break at the Monsterpalooza convention last weekend. Also present at that convention was Mark Burnham, who played genre icon Leatherface in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie that was released through the Netflix streaming service back in February – and there’s a RUMOR going around that Burnham was accompanied by one of the film’s producers, who allegedly told fans that Netflix has ordered two more Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequels. We can’t confirm this rumor at the moment, but if it’s true that Netflix wants two more Chainsaws we should be hearing an official announcement very soon. For now, we wait and see.

The new Texas Chainsaw Massacre did have a successful first weekend on Netflix. It was the second most viewed movie on the service during the February 14 to February 20 time period – which only covered its first three days of release. In those three days, Netflix subscribers streamed the film for a total of 29.18 million hours. Texas Chainsaw Massacre also ranked in the top 10 in 94 countries, reaching #1 on the daily lists in the United States, Bolivia, Brazil, Honduras, Oman, Philippines, and Saudi Arabia.

That sounds like good reason to make a couple low budget sequels to me.

Directed by David Blue Garcia from a script by Chris Thomas Devlin (based on a story by producers Fede Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues), the recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre had the following official synopsis:

After nearly 50 years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town.

Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.

If Netflix does want a sequel (or two), Garcia has let it be known that he has ideas for it and is ready to get to work.

I’m always on board to watch more Leatherface and I really enjoyed the new movie, so I hope this rumor is true. Do you want to see more Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
